About
Built for California homeowners.
FireReadyHome was built to help California homeowners navigate AB 3074 compliance without getting overwhelmed or oversold. Most people learn about the new Zone 0 requirements from a postcard, an inspection notice, or an insurance non-renewal — all of which arrive on a deadline. We're here to make the next step clear.
Our mission.
Most Zone 0 work is straightforward — but few homeowners know what's required, what's expensive vs. cheap, and which fixes actually matter for insurance. We translate CAL FIRE's requirements into a personalized report, then connect you with vetted professionals only where you actually need them.
We make no money when you do work yourself. We're building partnerships with licensed California mortgage professionals, contractors, and insurance brokers — but the assessment stays free and the recommendation stays honest. If DIY is your best path, that's what we'll tell you.
How our content is researched.
Every guide on FireReadyHome is written by the FireReadyHome Editorial Team and built from primary sources: the California statutes themselves (AB 3074, AB-38, Public Resources Code §4291, Civil Code §1102.6f and §1102.19), California Board of Forestry & Fire Protection rulemaking records and meeting materials, Office of the State Fire Marshal publications, and the published programs of local fire agencies.
Because the Zone 0 rulemaking is still moving, every article carries a “last reviewed” date, and regulatory facts flow from a single internally maintained record that is re-verified against Board of Forestry activity — see the Zone 0 Rulemaking Tracker for the current status. Where published sources disagree (for example, phase-in dates for existing homes), we say so and cite each source rather than picking one silently.
Corrections: if anything on this site is out of date or wrong, email info@firereadyhome.com and we'll review it against the primary sources and fix it.

What we are not.
FireReadyHome is a private service. We're not affiliated with CAL FIRE, the California Board of Forestry & Fire Protection, or any state or federal agency. Our guidance is based on publicly available CAL FIRE and Board of Forestry materials. For official guidance, always consult those sources directly — see our Resources page for direct links.
